Rotary Programs  -  There are a wealth of Rotary programs directed at Youth.  These include:
  • Honeywell Engineering Summer School - an Engineers Australia Sydney Division initiative supported by Honeywell, NSW ‘Engineering’ Universities and participating Rotary Districts.
  • Interact-Rotary club within a school for high school students.
  • MUNA – Model United Nations Assembly – held at Muswellbrook.2 students + teacher.Cost $400+ incl meals and accommodation.End of May each year.
  • National Youth Science Forum.Canberra/Perth.$2500+Dec/Jan.Selection process.Very competitive.
  • New Generations Vocation Exchange.25 yrs+.New program to gain work experience overseas.
  • Rotaract – Age 18-30 – Young people’s Rotary Club.Needs involvement from local Rotary clubs to establish and support.
    • Rotary Australia/New Zealand exchange.3 month exchange program.Yr 8/9 (14-16 yrs).Family pays for airfare.
    • Rotary Youth in Cotton (RYCOTT) – Western NSW (Narromine) – 1 week camp related to Cotton.Approx $300.
    • Rotary Youth Leadership Program (RYLA)-18-25 yrs – 5 days residential program at Tocal.$800
    • Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN)-14-17 yrs – Junior RYLA.Improves confidence, self esteem.Not for elite students, more middle of the range students.Twice a year – April & October.
    • Rotary Youth Agriculture (RYAG)-Yr 9/10 – Agricultural program – Wellington (one club organises this).
    • Rotary Youth Crops Agronomy, Grains & Seeds (RYCAGS) -Organised by Rotary Club of Narromine.
    • Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA)-Driver Training Program.$12 per student + bus travel to Tocal.1 day program.Held at Tocal Agricultural College.
    • Science and Engineering Challenge – Uni of Newcastle.Yr 10.Also Primary School Discovery Days also held for primary students (one held in Maitland).Cost of bus travel only.
    • Science Experience – $300 – one week program – held in Sydney, Canberra, Armidale.
    • Try a Skill(previously Try a Trade).Yrs 9/10 attend a one day hands on event where they experience a range of trades based activities.
    • Rotary Youth Exchange Program.12 month exchange program.Selection process.Sponsored by individual Rotary clubs.
    • Rotary Educational Leadership Award for Youth with Intellectual Disabilities (RELAYID).
    • Rotary Adventure in Citizenship (RAIC).This is a new program commencing in May 2014.Year 11 students visit Canberra for one week, during which time they meet with Parliamentarians, visit Government offices and generally gain an insight into Australian Government.
