MEMBERSHIP – ROTARY CLUB OF MAITLAND SUNRISE

Rotary Club of Maitland Sunrise is always keen to welcome new members to the club.   Membership is open to anyone who has a sense of community and would like to contribute their skills and experience in whatever way they can.   Members come from diverse backgrounds, career pathways, and have a range of interests.

Members of Maitland Sunrise are an eclectic mix – male and female, from those in their 20s through to their 70s – all finding an outlet for their enthusiasm and their particular interests.  We meet weekly at Lorn Park Bowling Club from 7.15 am – 8.30 am, where we enjoy breakfast together while listening to informative and entertaining guest speakers or discussing the various projects the club is undertaking at any given time.

Not only do members meet at the weekly meeting, there are a variety of social activities that members can participate in – Movie Nights provide an opportunity to mingle with others, to involve family and friends, while at the same time raising funds for a club project.    Painting over graffiti at sites across Maitland also offers an opportunity for socialising, shoulder to shoulder with paintbrush in hand.   The Golf Day sees members out on the greens, wrapping up prizes, on the drink trolley – all very social activities.  The list goes on …..

It is up to individual members of the club to select from a variety of fundraising activities to get involved with – the commitment can be as little or as much as they choose.   The range of projects is wide – covering local, national or international projects such as the current Vanuatu project where the club is supporting a school in the little village of Lathe.  At a local level the club has worked closely with Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG) to fund a labyrinth in their outside area, with local schools to support Literacy and Numeracy programs, and in high schools with the “Money Talks” program.
